What does it take to get award nominations and wins?

Ever been to an awards ceremony and felt frustrated? You see the nominees / winners but don't get the full picture of what got them there?

That's the gap Roger Cayless and I wanted to fill.

As judges across multiple awards, we've had the unique privilege of seeing behind the curtain - not just the polished final work, but the strategy, insights, and decisions that separate winning content from the rest.

So we got into the studio a while back for the latest episode of Employer Content Marketing.

We're lifting the lid on:

🏆 CGI's award-winning D&I campaign - Roger breaks down how they won the video category at multiple awards including Recruitment Marketing Awards and Lens Awards [and nominations at the RADs].

🏆 Find Your Force with the RAF - I share insights from our work with Not Going To Uni that's been nominated for the RADs and won at Recruitment Marketing Awards and Lens Awards.

And we share our advice based on judging 100s of award entries over our careers.

This isn't a "look at our shiny trophies" conversation.

It's a practical deep-dive into what actually works, what doesn't, and why most employer brand content looks exactly the same.

There are insights here that could change how you approach your next campaign.

The first 90-seconds is at the top.

And watch or listen to the full episode here.
