Behind Content: Helping Gen Z find their force with the RAF

What does it take to produce video that helps people take the first step in their career with confidence? We go behind the scenes of a production that I directed.

Content Marketing is more than producing content that sells a brand. It’s about producing content that actually adds value to someone’s day to day.

This is why I set up my business Content Marketing Pod Ltd.

And it’s why I do partnerships with organisations like Not Going To Uni and their client - the Royal Air Force.

Find Your Force was created as a strapline for the RAF’s recruitment years ago. But what if it was more than the masthead of a national ad campaign?

That’s where the Find Your Force podcast came in!

Season 1 was a chance to pilot our strategy with audio only episodes. Season 2 saw us set up a studio on an RAF base for a vidcast.

Season 3 took it up a whole other level as we took kit and crew to the boxing ring, football pitch, rugby pitch, swimming pool, gym and e-sports room!

Find Your Force Season 3 was all about sport and how it can help you find your career potential.

Having a solid content strategy meant we had editorial clarity and a clear brief for the crew, the host and our guests. And we had a great balance between providing guidance to our guests while having a fun and flexible shoot. It put them at ease in front of the camera and were absolute naturals!

It won gongs at the Recruitment Marketing Awards and the Lens Awards, and got shortlisted twice at the RADs. And it helped the RAF attract even more quality candidates via the Not Going To Uni website.

We packed in a whole lot of filming with some great sports people over three days across two RAF bases. The weather was terrible but we powered through and had a great time!

And the most important thing?

We gave a group of people at the RAF a platform to say why they love sport, share their stories and give advice to anyone starting out in their career.

Because everyone has career potential, they just need help finding it.

Here are some of the episode trailers.

It was an absolute pleasure being part of the crew at Not Going To Uni. Using our combined skills to help the next generation of talent is a real privilege.

Want to chat about this project more? I’d be happy to chat about it.

Thanks
